Сегодня в Центре современного искусства ВИНЗАВОД открылась выставка World Press Photo, а к 18 июля она переберется из Москвы в музей истории Санкт-Петербурга.

Ежегодная выставка World Press Photo, путешествуя по миру, успевает за время своего вояжа посетить более восьмидесяти городов. В ее экспозиции представлены 200 работ победителей международного конкурса фотожурналистики. Ежегодно независимое жюри, состоящее из 13 профессиональных фотографов и фоторедакторов СМИ разных стран, оценивает работы претендентов в 10 различных категориях. Финал самого престижного в мире конкурса фотожурналистики в 51-й раз прошел в феврале 2008 года в Амстердаме. Выставка отражает самые важные мировые события 2007 года.

World Press Photo во многом определяет спрос и предложение на рынке фотографии в СМИ, а также на новых, нетрадиционных для фотожурналистики рынках: гуманитарных организаций, рекламы, корпораций и книжных издательств. Основная задача, стоящая перед World Press Photo — развитие и поддержка фотожурналистики во всем мире.

До Москвы выставка проходила в National Palace of Culture в Варшаве.
